AMERICA - YOUR CHANGING WORLD

Environmentalism (Sustainable Development) is a Religion

On December 12, 2007, Pope Benedict released his remarks criticizing the climate-change prophets of doom.  The article was published in the UK Daily Mail and without a doubt the Pope referred to environmentalism as a religion.

The article ended with these definitive remarks:

“In the spring, the Vatican hosted a conference on climate change that was welcomed by environmentalists.

But senior cardinals close to the Vatican have since expressed doubts about a movement which has been likened by critics to be just as dogmatic in its assumptions as any religion.”

The Pope’s remarks will be made in his annual message for World Peace Day on January 1, but they were released as delegates from all over the world convened on the Indonesian holiday island of Bali for UN climate change talks.

“The leader of more than a billion Roman Catholics suggested that fears over man-made emissions melting the ice caps and causing a wave of unprecedented disasters were nothing more than scare-mongering.

The German-born Pontiff said that while some concerns may be valid it was vital that the international community based its policies on science rather than the dogma of the environmentalist movement.”

The Pope agreed the world needed to care for the environment but not to the point where the welfare of plants and animals was given a greater priority than that of mankind.

He further warned them that any solutions to global warming must be based on firm evidence and not on dubious ideology.

I want to define a few words

…that have been used here so far to insure I understand.

A word used by the Pope was dogma.  Merriam Webster states dogma is a noun and defines the word as meaning:

1 a: something held as an established opinion; especially: a definite authoritative tenet b: a code of such tenets <pedagogical dogma> c: a point of view or tenet put forth as authoritative without adequate grounds

So what does tenet mean?  Once again, according to Merriam Webster the definition of tenet is:

a principle, belief, or doctrine generally held to be true; especially: one held in common by members of an organization, movement, or profession

But the key word is religion and Merriam Webster defines religion as:

Religion Function: noun 4: a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith

So environmentalism has dogma that certainly is filled with tenets and without doubt fits Webster’s definition of religion sub 4.

But what else makes it a religion?

Religions normally have some form of written text that provides guidance, such as the Bible, Torah and Koran.

Well so too does environmentalism, it is called Agenda 21, Sustainable Development.  It is 40 chapters long and covers some three hundred plus pages.

In the Jewish and Christian religions they acknowledge the Ten Commandments as a guide of how they should live.

Well so too does environmentalism have its guide on how you should live and it is called the Earth Charter.  In fact its authors hope it becomes the Ten Commandments of human behavior.

Here are a couple quotes from the authors and presenters of the Earth Charter:

"My hope is that this charter will be a kind of Ten Commandments, a ‘Sermon on the Mount,’ that provides a guide for human behavior toward the environment in the next century and beyond," Gorbachev stated in a 1997 interview with the Los Angeles Times.

"The real goal of the Earth Charter," said Strong, "is that it will in fact become like the Ten Commandments."

So where is the Earth Charter housed, this “Ten Commandments” of environmentalism?

Ah, yet another parallel to main stream religion.

The Jewish and Christian religions’ Ten Commandments are believed to be held in the Ark of the Covenant and the so called ten commandments of environmentalism are held in, where else, the Ark of Hope.

The Ark of the Covenant has been lost for millennium but some say it is buried beneath the Temple Mount.  The Ark of Hope seems to travel around the world and may well end its travels at the United Nations’ headquarters in New York.

Further, every religion has a God or Gods they pray to for spiritual guidance, intervention and to whom they give thanks.

So who or what is the spiritual guide for environmentalism?  To whom do they give thanks for their existence?  The Earth

The Earth Charter by definition is a contract (charter) with the Earth.  And one of the main architects of the contract was Mikhail Gorbachev.  In an interview he is very candid about what he believes and who his god is:

“Well, I believe in the cosmos. All of us are linked to the cosmos. Look at the sun. If there is no sun, then we cannot exist. So nature is my god. To me, nature is sacred. Trees are my temples and forests are my cathedrals.”

The message of any main stream religion is about eternal life.  Live by the Ten Commandments and you will be given eternal life.

The message of the religion of environmentalism is eternal Earth?  If humans live by the ten commandments of the Earth Charter the message is the Earth will live for eternity.  The message is called “sustainable development”.

It has been my experience that if you copy something it is because you want something similar to the original, therefore, since environmentalism has copied main stream religion it only computes that its founders wanted a religion.

The religion of environmentalism has Agenda 21 Sustainable Development as its bible, the Earth Charter as its ten commandments, the Ark of hope as a religious symbol, the worshipping of the Earth as its god and eternal Earth as it message of hope.

So there you have my reasoning for saying environmentalism is a religion.

The Harvard School of Law states there is “no legal” definition of religion so we are left to compare with those popularly accepted major forms of religion to make a determination.

Environmentalism was designed as a religion, it emulates religion, it parallels main stream religion, therefore, it is a religion or, none of them are religions.

So if you agree that environmentalism is a religion,

…why is it being taught in our schools and why is it being promoted by all levels of our government?

The First Amendment of our Constitution states, regarding religion:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…

Yet Congress has done exactly the opposite regarding the first part, and has made environmentalism mandatory regarding the second part.

Madison wrote: "practical distinction between Religion and Civil Government is essential to the purity of both, and as guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States."

Yet here we are.

If you are an elected official or anyone who is serving this country where you have taken the oath to defend our Constitution, then you are obligated to act to remove this religion, environmentalism, from our schools and all laws of this United States.  Else you are betraying your fellow citizens and your sworn oath.

You must hold the same standards for the religion of “environmentalism” as you would for any other religion.
